Gussie Ann Cudd, was born February 1, 1938, the second of three children to Lois (Samuelson) and Jess Caldwell in Hereford, TX. She was reunited with her loving husband Joe Cudd, her parents, her sister Sammye Caldwell, and her sisters-in-law Patricia Simmons and June Kindy on January 16, 2018 following a brief illness. A lifelong resident of Denton and Carrollton, her attention to detail and love of words allowed her to excel as a Legal Secretary at Texas Instruments in a career that spanned 25 years, followed by years of procedure manual inscription at Texas Utilities. Her personal time was spent with her family enjoying various activities including camping, dominoes, and other family gatherings. Gussie was known to all for her loving heart and generous spirit. A true Southern lady-of-grace, she cared for others before herself. No one escaped her home without a hug and all were always welcome. Following retirement, she allowed more time for her favorite hobbies of completing her crosswords in pen and researching and sharing the family genealogy for all sides of her family. She was happy to introduce her nieces and nephews to a wide variety of new experiences including hockey, the lapidary arts, and the love of reading. She kept families' secret recipes and stories behind every tradition, beaming when someone called for her award-winning fudge recipe. She is survived first and foremost by her cherished dog, Rosie; her beloved brother, David Caldwell and wife Paula of Carrollton; nephew Matt Caldwell of Carrollton; niece Darcy Caldwell of Hackberry; nephew Kenneth Yarbrough of Port Aransas, niece-in-law (and daughter-in-spirit) Michelle Yarbrough of Round Rock and their children Kelsea Yarbrough, and fiance Kevin Adams, of Boerne, and Cathryn Yarbrough of Round Rock; nephew Keith Yarbrough and wife Kathryn of Midlothian and their children Ross Shipman, Sierra Yarbrough, and Titus Yarbrough; nephew Scot Chamblee and his children Jake and Zack; nephew Dale Chamblee of Frisco and his children Mia and Reed. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorial donations be made to Operation Kindness (3201 Earhart Dr, Carrollton, TX 75006). A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, January 21 at 11 am at Metrocrest Funeral Home at 1810 N Perry Rd, Carrollton, TX 75006.
