GWIN MARY ALEXANDER was born January 19, 1927 in Bessemer, Alabama to the union of Nancy and Albert Alexander.

The family moved to Kentucky in the early 1930's, where Gwin remained until relocating to Cleveland Ohio in 1950. There she worked a number of different jobs. She retired from City Hospital in Cleveland Ohio where she worked as a Dietary Aid.

To be closer to family Gwin moved to Illinois in 1979. Gwin became a member of Evans Community Church in 1984.

Despite being born with a handicap Gwin enjoyed a good life. She never let her physical challenges keep her from accomplishing anything she wanted to do. Gwin enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking for others, selling pop and chips, playing cards/bingo and having her annual birthday party. In recent years due to declining health Gwin's ability to do these things was curtailed.

Gwin began her transition to glory the morning of December 19, 2017. With her daughters by her side at 1:30pm, Gwin answered to her name from the Heavenly Father above.

Gwin is survived by two daughters Thelma Weaver of Hammond, IN; and Theresa Alexander of Ford Heights, IL, two grandsons Cedric Alexander(Edgareisha) of Chesapeake, VA, and Marcus Weaver of Park Forest, IL; one granddaughter Ariel Alexander of Ford Heights, IL, ten great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
