Hally (Halcyon) Kirkendall passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2017, after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a few months earlier. She passed with loving friends and family by her side and the family will forever be grateful for the loving care her friends provided.
Hally was born in Anchorage, Alaska on December 20, 1958 to William "Bill" and Gertrude "Trudy" Kirkendall. She was the middle of five children, and established her status as "the beautiful one" early in life. Family moves to Michigan and Arizona during her high school years brought Hally to discover that she was meant for warm-weather living. After graduating from high school in Arizona, Hally moved to Texas and made it her permanent home. She worked in the Telecom industry and earned her master's degree and certification as a Project Manager.
Although she made many visits back to Alaska over the years to see family, her friends in Texas were her adopted family. Her magnetic humor and sense of fun helped her to make friends easily, but her enormous heart and sense of loyalty made them long-lasting. Hally's most cherished and constant companion was her adopted Yorkie, Chance.
Hally's legacy is one of love, laughter, bravery, and friendship. Her years on earth were cut short, but they were lived richly, and she leaves behind many friends with memories to share and funny stories to remember her by. We will think of Hally when we breathe in the beauty of flowers or a garden, smell the warm Texas air, or spot a snowman. Hally would love for you to hug a friend, plant a flower, or adopt a puppy as you remember her.
Hally was greeted in heaven by her parents, Bill & Trudy Kirkendall, her brother James Oliver "Ollie" Kirkendall, and her furry friend, Chance. She is survived by her sisters Linda Eliason, Leola Monfrey, and Gayle Kirkendall, and by her nieces and nephews, Brian Kirkendall (Nicole & Addy), Sarah Kirkendall, Jason (Mary) Eliason, Kathleen (Aaron) Reyes (Rose Monfrey), and Callie Monfrey, as well as her "adopted- by-heart sister", Kim Holcomb and her adopted Texas families.
A service will be held at 2:30 on Saturday, November 25th at Unity of Dallas on Forest Lane. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to either the DFW Pup Patrol (DFWpuppatrol.com) or The Salvation Army. Please feel free to leave a memory of Hally here on her page.
