Hallie Esther Sands Watson, 95, of Monroe, passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2017. She was the loving wife of the late George Allen Watson.

Born on April 9, 1922 in Bedford County, she was the daughter of the late Albert Hypes Sands and the late Clara Padgett Sands. Hallie retired from Duti Duds as a seamstress. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, sewing, and gardening. She was a member of the garden club where she earned several blue ribbons. Hallie was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church and was involved in many activities within the church. Some of those activities included President of the Berean Bible Class, UMW, Lawn Parties, and Fall Bazaars. Hallie enjoyed helping others and would often bring homemade bread and jellies to those she visited.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her son-in-law, Dennis Hunt; her brother, Donald Albert Sands; five brother-in-laws, Billy Watson, Louis Watson, Carroll Watson, Donald Morrison and Roy Creasy; and two sister-in-laws, Lillian White and Mary Alice Morrison.

Left to cherish her memories are her children, Timothy Watson and wife Brenda and Nancy Hunt; five grandchildren, Jerry Hunt and wife Rhonda, Tina Hogate, Allyson Clark and husband Leon, Mark Watson and wife Brooke, and Kristy Watson; six great grandchildren, Jessie Hunt, Jason Hunt, Zachary Watson and wife Brittany, Shyann Adkins, Jenna Watson, and Resse Hallie Watson; a brother-in-law, Arnold White; six sister-in-laws, Virginia Sands, Grace Watson, Vernelle Overman and husband Ed, Isabel Creasy, Elizabeth Watson, and Jean Watson.

A celebration of Hallie's life will be held at 7 pm on Friday, September 29, 2017 at Whitten Monelison Chapel, with Rev. Jim Freeman and Rev. Roger Powell officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 5 to 7 pm. A private family burial will take place at Virginia Memorial Park.
