Harlan Leon Thompson, age 88, of Arcadia and Atlanta, IN died February 26, 2018 at Maple Park Village at Westfield, IN.

He was born February 18, 1930 at Atlanta, IN to Henry Earl and Sula (Goodnight) Thompson.

Harlan was a graduate of Jackson Central High School. He was raised on a farm and from childhood was a farmer his entire life. He had also driven a school bus for Hamilton Heights School Corporation for many years.

He was a member of Hinkle Creek Friend Church, Arcadia Lions Club and the Allis Chalmers Tractor Club. He sang tenor with the Lapel Jubilee Chorus and sang and played the saw at the Atlanta Music Hall for several years also. He had Percheron Horses on his farm and often harnessed them and drove them with a wagon in parades.

Surviving him are his step-daughters: Janet Kakasuleff of Tipton, IN and Joretta Hale of Crestview, FL, several great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Ruth Thompson, brother: Robert Earl Thompson, and step-daughter: Judy Nelson.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 P.M. at Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel, 209 West Jackson Street, Cicero, IN 46034, with Pastor Rick Huffman officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon until time of the services. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery near Atlanta, IN.
