Harley Kay VanZandt, age 16, of Springfield, died at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, March 14, 2012. Harley was born on July 1, 1995 at Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall to Allen R. and Bobby Jo (Winter) VanZandt. She has attended Harper Creek High School where she is a member of the junior class. Harley did some part time work as a server at the Full Moon Restaurant in Albion with her grandmother. She had attended West Eckford Missionary Church. Harley enjoyed reading and photography. Recently she had began riding horses which she found was something she had a passion for (as she did all animals!). This past year Harley and her family enjoyed a "Make A Wish" trip to fulfill her dream of traveling to New York City where they all shopped and partyed!. Harley is survived by her mother Bobby Jo Winter of Springfield, her father and step-mother Allen and Amy VanZandt of Battle Creek, her sister Bailey Winter and brother Austin Tackett both of Springfield, her maternal grandparents Bob and Connie Winter of Jackson, Brenda and Billy Heckman of Marshall, her paternal grandparents Bill and Sue VanZandt of Marshall, and her maternal great-grandparents Ruby and Frank Goddard of Albion, and her aunts, uncles and cousins. Friends may call at Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 723 US27 North, Marshall on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 from 2PM-8PM where the family will be present from 2PM-4PM and 6PM-8PM to greet friends and share memories. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM at Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Ryan Powell officiating. Interment will follow at West Eckford Cemetery. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to The Make-A-Wish Foundation. Assistance with memorials is available at Kempf Funeral Home.
