Harold Carden Thompson, 91, of Midland, Texas passed away the afternoon of December 11, 2017.

Harold was born on May 28, 1926 to Clarence and Florence Thompson in Loraine, Mitchell County, Texas and where he graduated from Loraine High School. From August 1945 to 1947 Harold served in the U.S. Army in WWII and Korea. After he was out of the service he cowboyed on several ranches in the Midland area.

Harold met his wife, Johnnie Stewart at a Bob Wills dance that was held in a hangar at the MAF base. Harold and Johnnie were married on February 6, 1954 at Johnnie's parent's home in Midland and were married for 63 years and had two children, Harold Carden Thompson, Jr. and Bettye Ruth Thompson.

In 1953 he started working for Phillips Petroleum and worked for them for 32 years until he retired as field foreman with the exploration and production department in Sprayberry in 1985. While working for Phillips he started competing in what he loved to do the most, calf rope. After his retirement he enjoyed time with his family, gardening and just being outside. He was a blessing to all who knew him.

Harold Carden Thompson is survived by his wife, Johnnie; one son, Harold Carden Thompson, Jr and one daughter, Bettye Ruth Riddle and her husband David; two grandsons, Robert Riddle and James Riddle and his wife Whitney and one great grandson Dean Riddle.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother and two brothers.

Memorial services will be held December 14, 2017 at St Paul's Methodist Church at 4501 Thomason Dr in Midland at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may go to one's favorite charity.
