BALLENTINE - Funeral service for Harold Eugene Fulmer, 90, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2012, at Bethel Lutheran Church, White Rock. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service in the church fellowship hall. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
Mr. Fulmer died Wednesday, February 29, 2012. He was born on November 14, 1921 and shared his birthday with an older brother, Yoder Fulmer, and his wife, Precious. He was the last surviving child of the late Seber and Bessie Long Fulmer.
Harold passed up a basketball scholarship to college and joined the U.S. Navy where he was stationed in Guam. When he returned home, he met "the prettiest woman I've ever seen", at the VA Hospital, Precious Frick from Coward, S.C. They married and had two children. Harold retired from Southern Bell. His free time was spent fishing, hunting, chasing geese off the lawn, woodworking and camping with family, friends and their dog, Tia. Their travels took them from coast to coast and north to south.
Surviving are his sweet wife of 65 years, Precious, who resides at Morningside Assisted Living in Camden; son, Dr. Ronnie H. Fulmer (Rebecca) of Camden; daughter, Precious F. Mayer (Ruben) of Sandy Run; grandchildren, Bryan Fulmer (Anne), Ronnie Fulmer Jr. (Vera), Jake Fulmer, Allison White (Josh); great-grandchild, James A. Fulmer (and three more on the way). In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Yoder S. Fulmer, Richard Fulmer; sisters, Evelyn Waddell, Olgie Hardee, Odalite Taylor and Helen Cook.
Harold was a good man, a good husband and father.
On his behalf, the family wishes to sincerely thank the special caregivers at Morningside for their warm and caring attention, endless supply of hugs and shared tears and extra desserts for Daddy at mealtimes. God Bless.
