Harry Duane Kool, 54, of St. Paul, Minnesota, and formerly of Oskaloosa, died Sunday, July 4, 2010, at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. He was born January 1, 1956, at Oskaloosa, Iowa the son of Harry C. and Sandra Allgood Kool. While in high school at Oskaloosa he was active in Track and theatre he participated in many plays including Camelot. He worked part time at Patterson Drug, and helped Mr. Rumor paint houses. He graduated from the Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1974. He later earned his Masters in Education from the University of Minnesota. He was united in marriage to Debra Allerhand on February 13, 1993, in St. Paul, Minnesota. Duane taught at the alternative school in St. Paul, he truly enjoyed teaching skilled trades to troubled kids. He had a knack for learning and teaching carpentry and mechanics. He was a very gifted musician, he could teach himself to play any instrument very quickly, and he especially enjoyed playing the guitar. He worked from time to time with several famous musicians.

His family includes his wife, Debra Allerhand-Kool of St. Paul, Minnesota; two sons: Danny Kool and Levi Kool both at home; his parents: Harry C. and Sandra Kool of Oskaloosa; a sister and her husband: Pamela and Buster Albertson of Oskaloosa; and many aunts uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, and a nephew: Matthew Engelhoven.

As was his wish his body has been cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date in St. Paul. Visitation will begin Friday morning after 10 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel, and the family will be at the Bates Funeral Chapel on Friday from 5?7 to greet friends and relatives. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of local arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Oskaloosa Senior High Arts Department.
