Harry John Rose, 77, passed away on November 15, 2013 at Cornerstone Hospice House in Taveres, Florida. He was born April 9, 1936 in Trenton, New Jersey to George W. Rose & Margaret (Peg) Schwartz.  The family moved to Orlando when Harry was 7 years old. Harry was educated in both catholic and Orange county schools and graduated from Jones College in Orlando. He served 5 years in the US Navy. Harry was a volunteer firefighter for 8 years for Killarney Fire Dept.  In 1976 he was awarded Volunteer Firefighter of the Year. He served as a member of the Orange County Board of Fire Commissioners 1977-1981 and secretary 1980-1981. In 1997 Harry was named Florida State Firefighter of the year. From 1979-1998 was a firefighter at the Orlando Naval Training Center. Harry's last employment was as an Orange County School Crossing Guard. Survivors include his wife; Geraldine T. Rose of Eustis, FL., siblings; Audrey Wagner of Bell Air, MD., Patricia Tanner of Pontiac Il ., Barbara Chambers of Orlando, FL., and George Rose of Pinellas Park, FL., He also has 8 nieces and 6 nephews . A viewing will be held Wednesday, November 20, 2013 from 5 to 7 pm with a prayer service being held at 6 pm at Carey Hand Cox Parker Funeral Home, 1350 W. Fairbanks Ave.  Winter Park, FL. 32789. Funeral Mass will be held  Thursday, November 21, 2013, 10 am  at St Francis of Assisi  Catholic Church, 834 S. Orange Blossom Trail, Apopka, FL., 32703 with burial to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Gotha, FL.
