Hazel Maurine (Kallenbach) Frisby

Hazel Frisby, 86, of Columbia passed from this life into her eternal home on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Lenoir Woods. She was born on October 29, 1931, to Charles Edison and Wilma (Connell) Kallenbach on a farm near Tuscumbia, Missouri.

Funeral services will be conducted by Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, December 21, 2017, with visitation at 10:00 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Hazel attended a one-room school through 8th grade and graduated from Tuscumbia High School. She attended Central Missouri University and taught one year in a one-room school near Tuscumbia. Hazel was then employed by MFA, Inc. first at an exchange in Eugene, MO, and then in Columbia, MO. She retired from MFA Insurance Co. (now Shelter Insurance Co.) and spent her remaining active years as a full-time volunteer at University Hospital—first as a Red Cross Volunteer and later with Hospital Auxiliary Service.

In 1966, she became acquainted with James C. Frisby (both attended the Stadium Blvd. Church of Christ) whom she later married on December 20, 1969. She was very active in the Church of Christ (first in Columbia, then in Hallsville) as a Bible school teacher, preparing food for others, visiting the sick, and taking the Gospel to others whenever possible. Hazel also served as a caretaker to many with long-term illnesses.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Winfred Kallenbach. She is survived by her husband; two brothers, Charles Duaine (Billie Sue) Kallenbach of Warrenton, MO, and Bryce Denzil (Betty Jo) Kallenbach of Eldon, MO; a sister-in-law Grace Kallenbach of Russellville, MO; four nieces, one nephew and several great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either the Hallsville Church of Christ or the Lenoir Woods Benevolence Fund.
