Hazel Virginia Ryman Life, 86, of Mt. Airy, MD, and formerly of Harrisonburg, VA, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother went to be with the her Lord on Saturday, February 18, 2017 surrounded by family and friends.

She was born in Washington, DC on April 16, 1930 and was the daughter of the late Raymond Barlett and Ruth Virginia Comer Ryman.

Hazel graduated from Stanley High School and in 1950 from Rockingham Memorial Hospital School of nursing, as a Registered Nurse. Her nursing career started at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, she was head nurse in the Pediatric Clinic at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC and Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, MD. She was a member of Locust Grove Church of the Brethren since 1968.

On November 30, 1950 she married Charles Amos Life, who preceded her in death on February 25, 1990.

She is survived by two daughters, Cynthia L. Miller and husband, Ray, of Mt. Airy, MD and Charlene L. Counts and husband, Walter, of Dayton, VA; five grandchildren, Christopher Caracofe, Leslie Winters (Wade), Charles Caracofe, Brian Miller (Heather), and Amanda Teter (Dusty); seven great-grandchildren, Corey, Marjorie, Gracie Mae, Nicholas, Drew, Ainsley and Jackson; and a brother, John Ryman (Marie) of Luray.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

The family will receive friends 11:00 am - 12:30 pm, on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.

A graveside service will follow at 1:00 pm, at Weavers Church Cemetery with Rev. Gregory Quintrell officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a local hospice or Locust Grove Church of the Brethren, 13358 Glissans Mill Rd., Mt. Airy, MD, 21771.
