Hector Manuel Leon Sr., age 71, of Manchester, NJ passed away on Thursday January 25, 2018 at the Ocean Medical Center in Brick, NJ. Hector was born January 6, 1947 in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He moved to Brooklyn when he was 16 years old. Hector then moved to Manchester in 2002. A decorated war hero, Hector proudly served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War earning a Purple Heart. He continued to serve his fellow brothers by volunteering at the Bay Ridge Veteran Hospital and being part of the creation of the BHAVA, the Brooklyn Hispanic American Veterans Association. He worked as a credit officer for Security Pacific Business Credit in New York, NY for 27 years retiring in 2003.

Great husband amazing father and brother, Hector loved to help people yet never asked or expected anything in return. He was a special gift to all that knew him. During a crisis, he was the first one there to do whatever needed to be done, no questions asked. Hector loved his country and his family, and will be deeply missed by all.

Hector is survived by his wife of 42 Years, Carmen Negron, his two sons Hector M. Leon, Jr. of the Bronx, NY and Ramon Tirado of Staten Island, NY, his 4 grandchildren Amelia, Melinda, Hector M. III and David. He is also survived by his 6 brothers Felix, William, Freddie, Bienvenido, Maximino, Jr. and Sigfredo and his sister Ines Leon.

A visitation for Hector will be held Monday, January 29, 2018 from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 3010 Ridgeway Road, Manchester, NJ 08759. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, January 30, 2018 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 3010 Ridgeway Road, Manchester, NJ 08759. A committal service will occur Tuesday, January 30, 2018 from 1:00 pm at the NJ Veteran Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Hector's memory to the BHAVA, 800 Poly Place, Room # 5-224, Brooklyn, NY 11209.
