Heinz A. Windfuhr age 90; of Prudenville passed away on Monday March 12, 2012 at Mid Michigan Regional Medical Center-Gladwin. Heinz was born on April 15, 1921 in Luedenscheid, Germany; to Emil & Clare (Vedder) Windfuhr. He served in the German Army before moving to the United States. He married Hedy Hartmann on August 23, 1946 in Luedenscheid, Germany. He worked as a tool and die maker before becoming an engineer for General Motors. He retired from General Motors in 1985 and the couple moved to Prudenville. He was a Mason, a sharp shooter, loved to golf, loved to play the accordion and a member of the Houghton Lake United Methodist Church. He was survived by his loving wife of 65 years Hedy Windfuhr of Prudenville; Daughter Margi Russell of Grand Ledge, Daughter; Erica (Don) Hebert of St. Thomas, Virgin Island, grandchildren; Mark Russell, Myla (Randy) Sendow, Stefan Hebert and Kendall Hebert and great grandchildren; Brennan and Cole Sendow. The family will greet friends on Friday March 16, 2012 from 10 am until the time of the service at the Houghton Lake United Methodist Church. The memorial service will take place at the church on Friday March 16, 2012 at 11 AM. Rev Tom Anderson will conduct the service. Memorials may be directed to the Houghton Lake United Methodist Church located at 7059 W. Houghton Lake Drive, Houghton Lake, MI.
