Helen Ann (Hazuka) Pavelka, age 90, passed away peacefully at her home in Centerbrook, CT, on Friday, May 29, 2015, a beautiful spring day. Helen was the beloved wife of the late John Charles Pavelka, who predeceased her in 1978. Helen was born in Deep River on December 14, 1924, the daughter of the late George E. and Anna E. She was a member of the Deep River Historical Society and the former Deep River 60 Club. She enjoyed spearheading the Lap Robe Project, creating many lap blankets and delivering them to Veteran's Hospitals. A child of the Depression, Helen had an incredible work ethic. Though she loved her beautiful home very much, Helen was well traveled and enjoyed many adventures in the U.S. and abroad. Her summers were spent at her beloved Keuka Lake in Hammondsport, NY, one of the Finger Lakes in Western New York. Helen is survived by two daughters, Judith Pavelka Adamcyk and her husband Francis of Essex and Christine Pavelka Weselcouch and her husband David of Fairfield. She is also survived by her four gorgeous, most talented, and cherished grandchildren, Mary Margaret Adamcyk of Quincy, MA, Emily Anne Adamcyk of Essex, John Charles Weselcouch of Los Angeles, CA and Helen Ann Weselcouch of New York, NY. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Helen was predeceased by her five brothers John Thomas Hazuka, George Edward Hazuka, Joseph Paul Hazuka, Charles Rudolph Hazuka and Rudolph Anthony Hazuka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 14 Prospect St., Essex.
