Sinsinawa, Wis.—Sister Helen Dailey, OP. (Joeline), 85, died July 4, 2014 at Mercy Hospital, Dubuque, Iowa.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, at Queen of the Rosary Chapel, Sinsinawa, Wis., followed by burial of cremains in the Motherhouse Cemetery. Friends may call after 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, at the Motherhouse where a wake and remembering service will take place at 6:30 p.m.

Sister Helen was a long-time educator. She taught 29 years in grades kindergarten through junior high; and as a reading specialist in high school. These schools were in Illinois, Wisconsin, New Jersey, and Nebraska.

For 14 years, Sister Helen was an associate professor in the Education department of Edgewood College, Madison, Wis., and was the director of the weekend degree program.

Sister Helen moved to Florida and found other outlets for her talents. She spent five years as director of religious education; seven years as a pastoral associate; and for four years taught reading in an after school program sponsored by the AFCAAM Catholic Center.

Sister Helen spent these last years volunteering and enriching community life at the Motherhouse.

Sister Helen, born July 8, 1928 in Pecatonica, Ill. to Ann Burke and Leo C. Dailey, made her profession Aug. 5, 1949. She is survived by nieces; nephews; and the Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters with whom she shared life for 64 years.
