Helen May Holfelner, 94, of St. James City, FL, passed away on November 9, 2017. She was born in Redford, MI on February 26, 1923. Helen graduated from St. Mary's of Redford HS.

She was married to Frank Albert Holfelner on November 13, 1943. They met during WWII at a USO facility in Detroit where Helen was volunteering and singing while Frank was in the Coast Guard.

She was a member of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church in Bokeelia, FL.

Before Frank retired, Helen was active in the literary club in Otter Lake, MI and volunteered as a "Gray Lady" at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Latter she volunteered at Cape Coral Hospital for a number of years. She had a passion for travel especially after Frank retired. They toured for many years in the States with a camper and took many cruises throughout the world. While she was capable of doing so she enjoyed wood carving and painting.

She is survived by her children, Marianne Panes (Robert Panes), Kevin Holfelner (Mary Carol Seebart), Brian Holfelner; grandchildren, John Haubenstricker, Christine Haubenstricker; sister, Agnes Gratowski.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank; her son Frank "Butch" Holfelner III; brother and sisters, Ann Martin, Joan Hays, Charles Benda, Katheryn Anderson, Rosemary Blucher.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Friday, November 17th at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church, 12175 Stringfellow Road, Bokeelia, FL. Burial will be at a later date at Michigan Memorial Park in Flat Rock, Michigan.
