Henry Dominic Dornak, 97, of Moulton, entered his eternal life on Saturday, August 8, 2015, surrounded by his loving wife and six children. He was born on August 1, 1918, in Cistern, Texas, to Cyril and Mary (Pesl) Dornak.
He was the second of six sons, and his brothers included Willie, Anton, Alois, Victor, and Cyril Jr. He attended the Cistern Catholic School.
On October 12, 1946, he married the love of his life, Lillie Mae Pulkrabek, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Moulton. The couple resided in the Bauersville community outside of Moulton for their entire married life of nearly 69 years.
Henry was inducted into the Army in 1942 and served as a Military Police Escort Guard, an infantryman, a marksman, and a medic. For his service in World War II, he received the Good Conduct Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the European African Middle East Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, and a Marksman Medal with Rifle Qualification Bar. Henry was honorably discharged in 1946 and received the Honorable Service Lapel Pin.
After his discharge he attended agricultural school on the GI Bill, which prepared him to begin the Dornak Dairy in 1948. The dairy operated for 62 continuous years, 32 under Henry and 30 under his son Marvin.
Henry was a true patriarch, and the three generations he guided are a testament to the honorable man he was. In addition to his wife Lillie, he is survived by his children Danny (children Lorne, Tanya, Jason, and Dean); Ivan (wife Kathy, children Shane, Michelle, and Selina); Peggie (husband Scott Sustr, children Niki, Ryan, and Dusty); Tommie Gene (wife Jamie, children Kristin, Kyle, and Matthew); Marvin (wife Kathy, children Melanie, Bradley, and Jill); and Sheri (husband Glenn Grohmann, children Misti and Kelby). Also surviving him are 20 great-grandchildren, three step great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law Lillie Migl Dornak, and nieces, nephews, and cousins too numerous to name but not forgotten.
Henry was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Council #3244, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6971, and KJT Society #38.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 11, 2015, beginning at 11 AM at Smith Funeral Home. A rosary led by the Moulton Knights of Columbus Council #3244 will be recited on Tuesday at 6:30 PM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. A funeral mass with a military honor guard and patriot guard will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at 11 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Gabriel Maison officiating. Interment will follow at the Catholic cemetery.
Pallbearers include grandsons Lorne Dornak, Shane Dornak, Ryan Wagner, Kyle Dornak, Bradley Dornak, and Kelby Grohmann.
Henry wanted to be remembered as a simple, hard-working, faith-filled family man, and in his honor, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice of South Texas, St. Michael's Catholic School in Weimar, St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Moulton, the Moulton Volunteer Fire Department, or the organization of one's choice.
