Herb Brown, 64 of Markle passed away at 10:27 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. He was a 1965 graduate of Rock Creek High School in Huntington County. He worked as a warehouse manager for many years; most recently he worked as custodian at Lancaster Elementary School in Bluffton. Throughout his entire life he was active with the Boy Scouts of America - Markle Troop. He served as a long-time volunteer fireman with the Uniondale Volunteer Fire Department. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, archery and photography. He was a long-time member of the National Rifle Association. He played baseball and softball for over 30 years and was inducted into the Huntington County Sports Hall of Fame. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He attended the Uniondale United Methodist Church where he sang in the church choir for many years.

He was born on August 15, 1946 in Huntington, the son of Dale L. and Mary Louise (Jennings) Brown.

He was united in marriage to Cheryl A. Guysinger on November 22, 1969 at the Markle Church of Christ. His wife survives.

Additional survivors include two sons: Jarod (Monica) Brown of Poneto, IN; William Brown of Markle; a daughter: Tracie (Scott) Pepper of Yoder; his mother: Mary Louise Brown of Markle; a sister: Karen (Mike) Kinney of Markle; five granddaughters and one grandson.

He was preceded in death by his father: Dale Brown.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, May 6, 2011 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel, 415 N. Lee Street, Markle, Indiana.

Interment will take place at a later date at Star of Hope Cemetery in Huntington County.
