DEWEY, Herbert Herbert Dewey of North Granby, beloved husband of the late Mildred (Humphrey) Dewey, passed away a day after his 88th birthday on Thursday (January 8, 2009). He was born on January 7, 1921, son of the late Ralph and Bessie (Piper) Dewey. He was a lifelong resident of Granby and a member of First Congregational Church of Granby. Herb was a self-employed farmer for many years, worked at the House of Hayes Farm in North Granby and retired from Ensign Bickford Corporation in Simsbury in 1988. He was a former member of the Lost Acres Volunteer Fire Dept., and an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by a brother, Howard Dewey and his wife Shirley of Palm Bay, FL; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Dewey. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St., Granby with Rev. Dan Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow at Granby Cemetery. His family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
