Herby Stanton was born August 16, 1929 in Deeson, Mississippi to the late Marshall and Willie Stanton. He was the baby of nine children born to this union.

He received his early education from the Jackson Public School system and graduated high school in 1948. He also attended Camel College.

In 1950 he enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged after his dedicated years of service.
Herby later married the love of his life Emma Jean Collins. Together they nurtured their four sons Herby Jr., Warren, Dennis and Lamont. They enjoyed over 56 years of life, love and friendship.

In 1965 the family relocated to Chicago where Herby trained and became an electrician. He was a part of the IBEW 134 Union and worked for the Sylvania Lighting Service for over 25 years.

Herby enjoyed fishing and playing cards. He was very active in his sons' lives and built generational strength in many. He had wealth of information and was up on all the current news. He made sure he voted every year.

Herby was called Home to Paradise on March 21, 2016.

He was preceded in death by his siblings Kathleen Thurman, Dorothy Douglass, Ora Lee Smith, Esther Smith, Theodore Stanton, Marshall Stanton and Komet Stanton.

His love and legacy will live on in the heart of his wife Emma Stanton, sons Herby Stanton Jr., Warren Stanton, Dennis Stanton and Lamont (Elizabeth) Stanton, thirteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren, brother Warren Stanton, numerous sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces, nephews and treasured friends.
