Hettie (Big Mom) Dunn- October 12, 1936 - September 9, 2017
The angel of death has visited and taken away a faithful mother, wife, sister, and friend, on September 9, 2017, from Salinas California.
Born to the late parents of U.S. Johnson Sr. and Roberta Johnson of Vicksburg, Mississippi.
Big Mom, as she was known, moved to Seaside, Ca., December 1972, three days before Christmas. After she moved to a few other cities on the peninsula and throughout California, before making her final stop here in Marina, Ca. "Big Mom" accepted Christ at an early age and continued to be a loyal and devoted Christian until her passing. She made her final church home at Christian Memorial Church, under the leadership of Reverend Samuel Gaston. She loved cooking, traveling and talking to family and friends, and on occasions playing bingo.
"Big Mom' was a cook for several years. She was employed in hospitality and nursing.

She was preceded in death by her Husband Ben Dunn of 49 years, her parents U.S. and Roberta Johnson, daughter Audrey Williams, and two siblings, Benjamin and Kennedy Dunn.

She leaves to mourn her death, one brother; U.S. Johnson of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Sons: Arthur Glenn Dunn (Hattie) of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Jasper Lee Dunn (Karen), Benjamin Dunn, , Ca., Wardell Dunn (Kathy) all of Salinas, Ca., Kevin Dunn (Caroline) Of Marina, Ca., Gary S. Dunn Sr. (Rita) of Las Vegas, NV., Wardell Dunn Brooks of Baton Rouge, LA, Daughters; Juanita Dunn-Wildee of Vicksburg Mississippi, Erica Dunn-Elder (Tony) of Rex, Georgia, Jacqueline Dunn (Mike) of Los Banos, Ca., 38 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

"There's an open gate at the end of the road, thru which each must go alone, and there in a light we cannot see, our Father claims his own. Beyond these gates our loved ones find happiness and rest. There is comfort in the thought, that a loving God Knows Best. "
