Houston Boyce Huffman, 89, passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at his residence.

He was born July 22, 1927 in Nelson County, a son of the late Samuel Houston and Ethel Harris Huffman.

He attended Nelson County Schools, served in the United States Army during World War ll, and retired from DuPont after 35 years of service as a maintenance supervisor.

Houston was a member of West Waynesboro Church of Christ, where he served as an Elder, Deacon and Bible School Superintendent.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Ann Huffman; siblings, Robert Huffman, Douglas Huffman, Shirley Hewitt, Betty Green and Juanita Cox.

Survivors include a son, Gerald Wayne Huffman of Richmond; daughters, Joyce Estes of Richmond and Teresa Gauldin and her husband, David ll of Waynesboro; six grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Gauldin, Ashley Gauldin, David Gauldin lll, Aimee Estes Wenger, Michael Estes and Christopher Huffman; great grandchildren, Heather, Taylor and Kelsey Wenger, Ella and Michaela Estes, Jeramiah Brown and Jonathan Brown; one sister, Patricia Good of Grottoes.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 3, 2017 at West Waynesboro Church of Christ with Chad Grondin officiating. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers will be David Gauldin III, Michael Estes, Christopher Huffman, Lyle Fitzgerald, Taylor Wenger, Lewis Gurkin, L.G. Ferrier and Grafton Simpson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Ferrier, Lou Farmer, and the members of the Sunshine and Crusaders Sunday School Classes of West Waynesboro Church of Christ.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.

The family wishes to express a deep appreciation to Gilda and Jeff Emmons for their care given to Houston.
