Obituary for Hubert B. Brown

August 8, 1943 - December 18, 2020
Ashburn, Virginia | Age 77

On December 18, 2020 Hubert Bartholomew Brown passed away in Ashburn, VA. Prior to his death, he was surrounded by his loving family: Geneva, daughter; Patrick, son-in-law; and Sarah, granddaughter. Hubert was born on August 08, 1943, in Charleston, South Carolina to the late Samuel and Helen Brown. Hubert received his primary education from New York City public schools and was a college graduate.

Hubert was known to most as "Hop". He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps as a young man and went on to serve in the Vietnam War where he was decorated with medals and honors. "Semper Fidelis" – Always faithful isn't only the branded motto of the U.S Marines, but also the commitment of Hop who continued to live by it day in and day out until his departure. In Hubert's civilian life, he served as a secondary educational instructor and assisted others with obtaining their GED diplomas up until his retirement.

Hop loved his beloved city of New York, where he spent most of his adult life between Harlem and The Bronx. He was a fan of the New York Giants.

Hop leaves behind his legacy of two children: his son, Rudolph Brown and daughter, Geneva Micklewhite (Patrick), Ashburn, VA; siblings: Samuel Brown, Michael Brown (Millie), Sanudria Brown, and one sister who preceded him in death, Geraldine Wellman. Four grandchildren: Raynese, Ray and Helen Parker, Sarah Micklewhite, and one who proceeded him in death, Kenneth Elfe. Three great grandchildren: Antoine, Angel, and Ari Parker. A host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family and friends.
