Hulda Ann (Duga) Rogers, 92, passed away at her home in Bryan Texas on August 15, 2017 at the age of 92. She leaves having fulfilled her two biggest dreams in life: to be a nurse and to have six children who, as adults, get along well and remain close-knit.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 26 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.
Hulda was born March 8, 1925 in Bellaire, Ohio to Nelle Skaggs and Samuel Duga. Because she was fortunate to live with such a large, devoted extended family, she was able to get through the Great Depression surrounded by an abundance of love and support.
Hulda attended nursing school at White Cross Hospital in Columbus Ohio and served in the Army Nurse Corps during WWII. She married Dr. George S. Rogers in 1945. Living all over the United States, from New York to North Dakota, they shared 61 wonderful years together.
In her decades long nursing career, she cared for infants, schoolchildren, and veterans. One of her favorite roles was as a home health nurse, which she did by jeep in the back hills of West Virginia and later, less precariously, with BVCAA in Bryan. Her dedication to nursing created an impressive legacy as four children and two grandchildren are registered nurses.
Hulda is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. George S. Rogers. She is survived by a sister, Esther Harper; as well as her six children, David Rogers, Martha Drescher, Ruth Drescher, Susan Rogers, Robin Rogers, and Nancy Carrera. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. There are no words that could fully describe how much she was loved, how much she inspired others, and how very much she will be missed.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Thomas Weber, Dr. Stephen Braden and his nurse Monica for care of maintaining Hulda's life for the last ten years.
