Ida Mae Emes, 96, Exeter Township, went to be with God on June 26, 2017, in the Berkshire Center. She was the widow of Bernard E. Emes who passed away October 31, 2009, and with whom she celebrated 68 years of marriage. She was born at home in Green Hills. Mae was the daughter of the late David Helms and Sadie Raifsnyder Helms.

Mae was a 1933 graduate of Birdsboro High School. She worked as a mender at Berkshire Knitting Mills. She also worked at Gotham Lingerie and Swift Company. She was a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Gibraltar where she taught Sunday School and was a Vacation Bible School teacher. She also served on the PTA at Exeter Township School District.

Mae always put everyone first and was a kind, giving and a wonderful woman. She loved her family and was a great cook, always had a cooked meal for her family, even after working a whole day at her job.

Also surviving are a son, David D. Emes, Exeter Township, and a daughter, Patricia A. Graul, wife of Richard H. Graul of Exeter Township; two grandchildren, Pamela C. Graul and Jason J. Graul, husband of Michelle; two great-grandchidrem, Gavin J. Graul and Halie A. Graul.
She is also survived by nieces, Deborah Rimby Greene (Rick), Doreen Rimby Beadencup (Terry), Dawn Helms Heim (Glenn), Susan Keller (Raymond) and one nephew, Douglass Rimby.

She was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Helms Rimby and a brother Paul Helms.

She loved her dogs, Herman, Greta, and Maggie Mae.

The family is grateful to the staff at Manor at Market Square and the staff at Berkshire Center for the care they gave her over the years.

Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. In the Auman's Inc. Funeral Home, 390 W. Neversink Road, Reiffton. Officiant Rev Paul Hansen. Burial to follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. In the funeral home.
