Iva Lois Oliver, aged 86, passed away early Friday morning, September 22, 2017, following a lengthy illness. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 27th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. A Graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Potosi Cemetery.
The daughter of Alvin Heffernan and Opal Mae Heffernan (Slaughter) Lois had lived in Abilene for her entire life. She is preceded in death by her husband and soulmate, Charles M. Oliver and several sisters and brothers. She is survived by one sister, Linda, a daughter Rhonda Lois Overturf, a son, Marvin Kenneth Bryant, Jr., two stepsons, Dylan and Tom Oliver, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and a few great-great grandchildren.
Lois and Charles were avid RV'ers and had an extensive circle of friends in the camping and fishing world. From bass and crappie in Texas, New Mexico and Louisiana to salmon in Alaska, Lois and Charles were able to share their passion with family and friends alike. We are certain that Lois and Charles have picked up their conversation that was cut short with the death of Charles in 2013, right where it left off! And both would have wanted to remember two neighbors who helped them in so many ways when the going got tough, Art Garza and Lawrence Gaston, both of Abilene.
Lois will be missed by all who knew and loved her, as is Charles.
