Jack Russell of Grand Prairie, Texas born August 15, 1932 in Van Alstyne, TX, went to be with his Lord on January 17, 2018. He died at the age of 85 after a year-long battle with melanoma cancer.
Jack was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He attended Inglewood Baptist Church and was active in the Vought Retirees Club, Vought Survivors Club and the Dallas Arms Collectors. He was always serving others, making sure they always had what they needed. He cherished his wife (Doris), his three children (Jeanne, Jeanette and David), 2 grandchildren (Erin and Benjamin), and 3 great grandchildren (Conall, Calla and Coral). He looked out for his family and friends always asking if everyone was taken care of, even until the very end. He never let cancer stop him. He held his head up proud.
Jack graduated from Van Alstyne High School, Van Alstyne, TX in 1949. He has lived in Grand Prairie, TX since 1961 and retired from Vought Aircraft in 1995.
Jack was preceded in death by his loving parents, Mary Pearl (Grissom) Russell and Arthur Fred (Stump) Russell; brothers Reverend Rudalph Russell, Birt Russell and Joe Richard Russell; and sister Guana (Russell) Pierson. He is survived by his sister Frances (Russell) Rutledge. He is survived by his wife, of 63 years of marriage, Doris (Whitecotton) Russell of Grand Prairie; Children-Jeanne (Russell) McKinney of Grand Prairie, Jeanette (Russell) Wheelis and husband Dave of Desoto, and David Russell and wife Cynthia of Grand Prairie; Grandchildren-Benjamin Russell of Grand Prairie and Erin (McKinney) Prince and husband Daniel of Framingham, MA; and great grandchildren-Conall, Calla, Coral Prince of Framingham, MA.
Visitation will be Monday, January 22, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. followed by memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at Inglewood Baptist Church, 1901 S. Carrier Pkwy., Grand Prairie, TX 75051. Burial will be Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at the Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery.
