Jacob Houston Kiser, 19, a resident of Verona, died unexpectedly Friday afternoon, Dec. 31, 2010, in an airplane accident at Weyers Cave.

A son of Richard K. Kiser of New Hope and Cynthia Crowley Kiser of Verona, he was born on Oct. 18, 1991 in Harrisonburg. He graduated from Fort Defiance High School and was a Freshman at Hampden-Sydney College majoring in Physics. Jacob was stage manager for the fall production at Hampden-Sydney and manager of the baseball team. He spent the last couple of summers working at Shenandoah Valley Airport at Classic Aviation. He was a junior member of the Glenmore Hunt Club and attended Lebanon Church of the Brethren.

Besides his mother and father, he is survived by a sister, Annalise Kiser of Verona; and half-brother, Stacey L. Kiser of Mt. Clinton; his maternal grandparents, Laura B. Revitz of San Antonio, TX and James W. Crowley and wife, Carol of Dallas, TX; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a nephew, Garrett Kiser.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at eleven o'clock Tuesday morning at the Lebanon Church of the Brethren with the Revs. Joel Ballew and Wayne Pence officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 this (Monday) evening at the Lindsey Weyers Cave Funeral Home. Friends may also call at the homes of either parent.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hampden-Sydney College or the Shenandoah Valley Governor's School Science Department, the electric vehicle program, in his memory.
