Jacob William Miles, 19, died on August 13, 2016. Jake was the beloved son of Joyce and David Miles of Middleport.

A 2016 graduate of Royalton Hartland High School, Jacob was a member of National Technical Honor Society. His senior project in the Orleans Niagara BOCES welding program, a sculpture of a tank crashing through a brick wall in Berlin in 1945, is a masterpiece. Fascinated with U.S. war history, especially the history of World War II, Jacob had enlisted with the Army. He wore the Army honor stole at graduation with great pride.

Jacob had been employed as a delivery driver at Chop's Shop pizzeria in Gasport since his junior year of high school. He was known at work for his dependability and willingness to pitch in where needed.
Jacob was a cancer survivor. He was also a sportsman, having learned hunting and fishing, and the game of pool, from his dad. His work ethic as he matured, and his sense of humor, he got from his mom. Jacob was the greatest gift that his dad and mom ever received.

Jacob was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Albert and Florence Miles. In addition to his parents, he is survived by: his grandma, Janet Wagner of Newfane; his grandpa, Paul Wagner of Charlton, Mass.; his uncle, Richard Miles of Medina; aunts Jo Anne Wagner of Lockport and Sue (George) Lepkoske of Medina; his cousins, Dan Swann and Jennifer Lepkoske; his brother, Adam Miles; many great aunts and great uncles; and the faithful companions that he plucked out of shelter nine years ago, Buddy and Max.

The family will be present on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Bates Wallace and Heath Funeral Home, 38 State Street, Middleport, NY where a Celebration of Life will begin at 11:00 a.m.; Jacob's friends are invited.

If desired, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
