Jackie was born in Patrick county on September 22, 1927, to her beloved mother, Flora Belle Shelton Hall, and father, Turner Clayton "Jack" Hall, who died before she was born. She was extremely devoted and loyal to her mother, and her 3 older sisters knew that "Little Jack" was the favorite child. Jackie met her husband, Jesse Ben Stegall "Jr." on a blind date in 1937, although he was setup with her friend on the blind date. They married in 1938 and remained married until Junior passed away in 2011. Jackie and Jesse were known by their friends and community as outstanding dancers, and won many prizes for their dancing skills, though she says that he often added extra steps. In 1956, Jackie became a mother to her cherished daughter, Jessica and in 1991, a grandmother to granddaughter Claire Marie. While Jessica and Claire tried to persuade Jackie to move to Texas to be closer to them, Jackie refused, insisting that she was "a Virginia girl." Jackie will be remembered for her spunky and charismatic personality, which gained her many friends throughout her life. She is preceded in death by her brother Leonard Ernest Hall, sisters Pauline Estelle Turner, Violet Hall Padgett, and Lucinda "Tessie" Hall Philpott, and daughter Jessica Lynn Stegall Wren. Jackie is survived by her granddaughter, Claire Marie Goodson, of Dallas, TX.
