Mrs. Jacqueline T. Ruffin, 69, died Sunday, July 17, 2011 at her home in Clinton. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Clinton. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 PM Tuesday at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton and from 12:00 noon until service time Wednesday at the church.

Mrs. Ruffin was born December 4, 1941 in Pascagoula, MS to the late Jack and Mildred Mills Thomas. She was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Clinton. Mrs. Ruffin was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She dedicated her life to her family and her happiest moments were when her family came together on holidays, birthdays or on no particular occasion. She enjoyed the simplicities of life. She welcomed a summer rain as much as she would a rare winter flurry of snow. Mrs. Ruffin, in her most caring of hearts, provided a warm and welcoming home to her children and grandchildren ... a home of homes where she refused to lock the doors so that any family member may visit without notice.

Mrs. Ruffin, as mothers are inclined to do, led by the hand and by her actions. She was a lighthouse in turbulent seas by which her children always found their way to safe harbor. She was as solid as any foundation and upon her strength her family was built. Mrs. Ruffin was a simple person though not simple minded. She required no things, no possession, no reward ... she simply desired the love of family. She was the most beautiful woman to ever walk the beaches of Port Isabel and South Padre Island, Texas

Mrs. Ruffin is survived by her husband, Thomas E. Ruffin of Clinton; sons, Thomas R. Ruffin (Stacey) of Clinton and Jon K. Ruffin (Tina) of Clinton; daughter, Anna Kristi Sellers (Bob) of Raymond; brothers, Michael Kershaw of Corpus Christi, TX and Rodney Kershaw of Industry, TX; and sisters, Rebecca Brunell of Gulfport, MS and Karietta Kershaw of Humble, TX. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Nicky Ruffin, Amie Hess (Matthew), Kelsey Sellers, Brady Ruffin, Peyton Ruffin, Mitchell Ruffin, and Riley Ruffin; and great-grandchild, Shelby Hood. She also leaves behind her loving friend Margaret Cutting.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Clinton, 100 Mt. Salus Road, Clinton, MS 39056.
