James Arthur Ozee, age 82, passed away December 17, 2017 in Ft. Worth. A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, December 21st, at Ridglea Presbyterian Church in the Chapel located at 6201 Camp Bowie Blvd. A burial service that afternoon will take place in Iowa Park, Texas at 3:00pm at Highland Cemetery located at 862 Rogers Rd.
James was born November 20, 1935 in Henrietta, Tx. to Johnnie and Bessie Ozee. As a child he moved to Wichita Valley farms and graduated as a Wichita Falls High Coyote earning a football scholarship to TCU where he played in two Cotton Bowls. James married his High School sweetheart and love of his life Mary Gayle Park in 1957. James and Mary Gayle were married for 60 years.
After graduating from TCU he entered the Air Force as an officer and coached football at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. James and Mary Gayle moved back to Ft. Worth in 1966 where James spent most of his career in the field he loved as an entrepreneur in the Oil & Gas business. Other highlights included sharing the spotlight with his 1956/57 TCU teammates in Sports Illustrated as The Century's Greatest Sports Photo and serving as President of Mesquite National Forest Foundation. He was known for his great love of life, incredible sense of humor and ability to capture a room with his story telling.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Gayle Ozee; 3 children, Gayle and husband Ricky Burton, Chip and wife Debbie Ozee, David and wife Donna Ozee; 6 grandchildren, Amber Deshotel, Lauren Munro, Mark Burton, Austin Ozee, Emerson Ozee and Hadley Ozee; and 5 great-grandchildren Breya, Bella, Sophia, Brooke, and Emma.
