James B. Ransom, 70, of Galion, died Friday, Mar. 16, 2012 at Galion Community Hospital after suffering a heart attack while cutting down a tree in his yard. Born May 31, 1941 in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, he was the son of the late Felix Herbert Ransom and Olithia Marie (Butt) Ransom. Jim attended Mt. Vernon and Mt. Gilead Schools and served in the United States Marine Corps. He drove semi-trucks and trailers as an owner/operator for 28 years and worked part-time doing lawn care and gardening for various Galion families. Surviving are his one daughter, Jamie Marie Dudley of Galion and one granddaughter, Alexandria Marie; his companion, Betty Baldwin, with whom he made his home; one sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Dave Frickie of Mt. Gilead and many nieces and nephews including Darwin Ransom of Thornville. He was also preceded in death by three sisters and seven brothers. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Mar. 20, 2012 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home in Galion. At Jim's request no funeral service will be held. Interment will be in Amity Cemetery.
