James "Jim" Barnett, 66 of Albion, IL, passed from this life to the next, on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN.

Jim was born February 11, 1949 in Olney, IL. to Casey and Inez (Wynn) Barnett.
He married Ruth Cunningham December 5, 1970 at Little Prairie Christian Church and she survives.

Jim's life work was as a mechanic. He also enjoyed his antique tractors, especially Allis-Chalmers. Jim was a Veteran who served in Vietnam and was Commander of West Salem American Legion McCormick Post #658, and was a member of the Albion VFW. He was an organizer for the Avenue of Flags display on the Edwards County Courthouse square, and worked tirelessly setting up lighting. He was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Samsville, serving as a Sunday school teacher.

He is survived by his wife; Ruth of Albion, daughter; Kathy Barnett, sons; Steve (Rebekah Lyons) Barnett and Casey Barnett, three sisters; Mary Schwartzlose, Elinor (Harold) Bunnage, Mae (Ron) Brandt, three brothers; Glenn Barnett, Neil (Cheryl) Barnett, George (Margene) Barnett and one grandchild; Kenneth Barnett.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Keith Allen Barnett, one sister; Hazel and three brothers; Howard, Virgil and Lloyd.

Funeral service will be Sunday, January 24, 2016 at 2:00PM at Ingram Funeral Home in Albion, IL. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery at Samsville with full military rites. Visitation will be Saturday, January 23, 2016 from 6:30-8:30PM at the Ingram Funeral Home in Albion.
Jim enjoyed dressing casually, so family and friends are welcome to do the same for his visitation and funeral.

Memorials may be made to the family to assist with medical expenses.
