James Carleton Staudt of Dallas, Texas, joined his Heavenly Father on Friday, October 27, 2017. He was 81 years old. James was born February 16, 1936 in Stacyville, Iowa. Received a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from St. John’s University in St Cloud, Minnesota. After leaving college he was the organist & choir director for 12 years at St. Johns Parish in Benton Harbor, Michigan, where he was instrumental in creating a boys’ vested choir. James was a gifted composer, musician and singer and traveled extensively with the Robert Shaw Chorale. He moved to Texas in 1973, where he was the Music Director at St. Monica’s Catholic Church until his retirement. He was a devoted Catholic and recited the rosary daily. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Carl & Christine Staudt, and his sister & brother-in-law Mary & Leo Stattelman. He is survived by his sister, Sister Mary Arnold Staudt, OSF and his long-time friend and companion, Joanne McGehee. He was a beloved Uncle to nephews, John Stattelman, Michael Stattelman, & David Stattelman. Nieces, Elizabeth Stattelman-Scanlan, Anne Marie Stattelman and many Great Nieces & Nephews. He will be missed by his family & friends and we find comfort knowing he is resting peacefully with his Heavenly Father, amongst the Angel’s choir.
