ALTONA-James "Jim" E. Fountain (known as Trashy to his MC brotherhood) entered eternal rest on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Fletcher Allen Healthcare in Burlington, Vermont, surrounded by family and friends following a brief illness. Jim was born March 11, 1964 in Plattsburgh to Gary and Elaine (Henderson) Fountain. Jim attended local schools before graduating from Oswego High School. He then entered the United States Army. Jim achieved the rank of Rank Specialist promotable, serving at Fort Sill, Oklahoma as well as being stationed in Turkey. Upon being honorably discharged, Jim returned to Plattsburgh, NY, where he worked to establish Jim's Lawn Care. He operated this business for many years before opening Jim's Light Hauling, which he enjoyed watching expand and grow steadily. Jim never met a stranger and he enjoyed many social activities. When not at work, Jim could often be found riding his Harley Davidson or trolling a local lake aboard his pontoon boat. He enjoyed travel and he was anticipating a 2015 triennial year trip to Sturgis, SD with his brothers. Jim enjoyed the fine art of conversation and had friends wherever he went.
Jim is survived by his parents; his life partner of 26 years, Karen Coty; two daughters, Lisa Fountain and her fiancé, Glen Bailey of Orongo, MO and Rebecca Fountain of Casper, WY; three granddaughters, Mekennah, Kamille and Persephone; two grandsons, Benjamin and Brinden; two brothers, David and Cindy Fountain and Danny and Angelique Fountain, both of Belton, TX; his in laws, Ray and Cathy Coty of Altona; three brothers in law, Michael and Doreen Coty, Rick and Nancy Coty and Randy and Carrie Coty; six nephews, Kurtis, Cameron, Kelly, Kory, Connor and Gerald and four nieces, Kristy, Amanda, Emma and Alyssa.
Jim was an animal lover and he was particularly fond of pugs. Jim and Karen are preceded by their 18 year old pug, Puddles. Their two year old pug, Jax survives.
There will be a memorial motorcycle ride Thursday, July 10, 2014 in honor of Jim. Riders are asked to meet at North End Harley Davidson/Lake City Choppers with 9:00 a.m. with a planned departure time of 10:00 a.m. The ride will end at Holy Angel's Church in Altona for an 11:00 a.m. funeral Mass. Following the funeral Mass with full military honors, a celebration of Jim's life will be held at Holy Angel's Church Hall. In the spirit of brotherhood, adventure and riding free, Jim's ashes will be released in Sturgis, South Dakota.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to one of Jim's favorite charities; North Country Honor Flight, the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
