James E. Lovell Sr., age 88, of Bennet, NE, was born in Sioux City, IA on December 8, 1928 and passed away on November 19, 2017. He served in WW II and was awarded 3 medals. He married Catherine Blount on May 24, 1952. He was a participant of Camp Creek Threshers Waverly, NE for many years. He was previously employed in construction and then worked as a plumber for the State Fairgrounds in Lincoln, NE for many years, retiring in June of 2010. He received a world record for participating in the world’s largest tractor parade held in Grand Island, NE on August 25, 2012. James loved restoring John Deere Tractors and was known as “Mr. Fixer Upper”. He loved spending time with family and friends. James was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Lovell and both parents. Survived by son, James E. Lovell Jr. (Konnie); daughter, Carry Lovell (Vernon Schildt); son, Larry Lovell (Stacey); grandchildren, Taneil Martinez, Justin Schildt, Coleton Lovell and Kyle Lovell; great grandchildren, Alizae Martinez, Sydnie, Rylie and Beckett Schildt. In lieu of flowers memorials suggested to the family for later designation. A CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be held on December 16, 2017 at the American Legion Hall, 970 Monroe St. Bennet, NE from 4-9 pm.
