James H. Randol, 73, of Decatur, IL passed away at 5:25 a.m. on Saturday (May 11, 2013) at Symphony of Decatur.
A service to celebrate James' life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday (May 14, 2013) at Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Casual attire has been requested by the family for James' services. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to donor's choice.
Mr. Randol was born on July 7, 1939 in Decatur, IL, the son of Homer O. and Geraldine (Ruthrauff) Randol. James proudly served in the U.S. Army, being stationed in Frankfort, Germany. He trained as an executive chef in Chicago, IL owning restaurants throughout his life, cooking for celebrities as well as the homeless. James retired in 1988 as a Major for the Colorado Department of Corrections. He was a member of the American Legion Post 105 and the Lions Club in Colorado.
Surviving are his brother and sisters: Joseph R. Randol of Decatur, IL, Dorothy E. Weaver and her husband Jerry of Decatur, IL, Donna Sue Kendall and her husband John of Decatur, IL, Sandra L. Hurtley and her husband Dave of St. Marys, GA; several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and infant sister: Mary Ellen Randol.
