Dummerston- James Kevin, "Jimmy" Evans, age 17 of Dutton Farm Road in Dummerston died Tuesday night, February 5, 2013 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. from injuries he sustained in a single car accident that occurred earlier in the evening on Upper Dummerston Road. Jimmy was born in Brattleboro on October 6, 1995 the son of James H. and Kathy E. (Tyler) Evans. He had attended Saint Michael's School, Dummerston School and was currently a member of the junior class at Brattleboro Union High School. He had the distinct honor of being elected Ambassador of his auto shop class at the Windham Regional Career Center and was an honor student. In his younger years he loved to play with his dog "Chloe," and his miniature horse "John Deere," which he named just after he was born. He loved interacting with animals of any kind. Jimmy loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and dirt biking. He was especially proud of the record carp he helped his brother, Tyler catch. He also enjoyed time spent at his family's camp on Island Pond, spending summers working with his grandfather, Stan and his Dad completing building projects. Last spring, Jimmy started sugaring with over 800 taps and was looking forward to sugaring this coming spring. Gifted with a green thumb he enjoyed both vegetable and flower gardening with his grandmother, sharing his harvest with friends and neighbors. Jimmy was a throw back to the 60's and 70's and loved the music, lifestyle and especially the muscle cars of which he wanted to build one of his own. He was always happy and upbeat and loved to meet people and make new friends. Jimmy was known for his big smile, spirit of generosity and his loving and caring spirit. With his family he was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Putney. Besides his parents he is survived by one brother, Tyler Evans and wife Kimberly (who are expecting their second child in May) and their daughter Charlotte of Titusville, N.J., his sister, Kristen Evans of Waterbury, VT, maternal grandmother Mary Tyler of Dummerston paternal grandfather Stanley Evans of Dummerston, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, his classmates and a large host of friends. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather Terry Tyler, paternal grandmother Charlotte Evans and an Uncle Kevin Tyler. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday morning at 11:00 A.M. at Saint Michael's Roman Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Richard O'Donnell, V.F. pastor of Saint Michael's Church, celebrant, along with Father Fred McLachlan, S.S.E. of Or Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. A reception will follow the Mass to be held at the Elk's Home on Putney Road. Burial in Dummerston Center Cemetery will take place in the springtime when the cemetery reopens. Calling hours will be held Sunday at Saint Michael's School on Walnut Street from 4 to 8 P.M. Memorial contributions in Jimmy's name may be made to a special scholarship that has been established at the Windham Regional Career Center for students pursuing a career in the automotive field.
