James Louis Alex, Jr., 54 years old, of Arlington, Texas passed away September 15, 2017. He was born to James Louis Alex Sr. and Gloria Dean LaCaze Alex who both preceded him in death. He gained a mother through adoption, Wanda J. Scott (Alex) Broussard and a stepmother, Ethel (Crawford) Alex who both cherished him. He was the older of the two children born in his family. His sister, Tiffani Renee Alex Harper also preceded him in death.

He was born in Lemore, California on September 12, 1963. He attended elementary school and junior high school in Oakland. When the family moved to Texas, he attended and graduated from South Grand Prairie High School, where he enjoyed being a member of the winning Football Team and Drama club. He met and made his lifelong friend and brother, Jason VanNoy there.

After graduating, he joined the United States Navy from 1982 to 1998. He saw action in Kuwait and Grenada. He received two Medals of Meritorious Service under deployment. He served sixteen years before his retirement. Later, he went on to complete two years at Steven Henager Community College studying business management. He worked at several aviation and telecommunications jobs. He especially enjoyed his work in Sales for Sears Roebuck Co., and as a Disc Jockey and Security Manager for private events. He gained love and popularity as "Batman", a nickname which he carried until his death.

"Junior" was a member of the Junior Sunday School Class and Jr. Ushers at Allen Temple Baptist Church, Oakland, California. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, as a teenager, at the Dallas West Church of Christ, Dallas, Texas under the leadership of Pastor Reginald Dudlin in 1979. In Jacksonville, Florida, he became a member of the Greater Beulah Missionary Baptist Church in 2015. He was an avid bible study student until his transition.

James was married to Desiree Alex in 1985. From that union James had a daughter, Kristie Alex of Jacksonville, Fl. Upon the end of that marriage, James united with Araceley Martinez and had a son, Armon Alex of Corpus Christie, Texas. He was a doting, encouraging father and brother always bragging about his children and sisters. Of his many, many friends from all over the world, "Batman" was known as a gentle gentleman, a protector, always ready with a laugh, a joke, a karaoke song, anything to make a situation lighter, not a complainer. He was a great lover of family and friends.

He leaves to cherish his life and memories, his mothers, sisters, Joy A. and Jia M. Broussard of Berkeley, CA, brothers, Gregory (Debra) Crawford, Jason VanNoy (Elena) and Jim Ryan (Velma) of Arlington, TX, Melba Simpson (James) Lawson of Pittsburg, CA. He also leaves his children: Kristie Alex and Armon Alex, his grandson Deshawn Davis, godson Marquis Braithwaite, his niece Breanna Harper and nephew Bryce Harper. He leaves a true host of family: the LaCaze family: aunties and uncles; Ida (Melvin) Morgan, Ejuria Carter, Carolyn Brown, Felton (Louella) LaCaze, Linda (Cecil) Brown, Ambrose LaCaze , Raymond (Wanda) LaCaze and Larry LaCaze. The Alex family: cousins Joyce Alex Perkins, Melbourn Ray Alex, Lindel Alex Casson, Kenneth Wayne (Cornethia) Alex and Keith Alex, as both his uncle and aunt have preceded him in death. He leaves a host of friends and their families to mourn him as well.
