Jim was born to John and Loretta Quirk on April 10, 1933 in San Diego. He served his country in the United States Army at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma in the Dental Corp. He graduated from San Jose State with a B.S. in Engineering and an advanced degree in Business Management from U.C.L.A. He retired from Beckman Instruments having worked there for 30 years. He married Teresa in October of 1988 and between them they enjoyed 8 children.
He was a diehard San Francisco 49er fan and a master at outdoor grilling. Golf was his passion, whether watching or playing, and he could boast of 7 holes in one. He never met a stranger and could converse intelligently about many subjects. He enjoyed all kinds of movies but was especially fond of the black and white ones.

He was a "straight shooter" and there was never a doubt about what he thought. Jim will always be remembered for his unconditional love for family, his loyalty and honesty, his value to commitment and his generosity to all.
Jim will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and Brother Jack Quirk.

His survivors include his wife Teresa, her children Kevin Judge and wife Mardie, Steven Judge and wife Christine, Kara James and Shane Smith; Gretchen Quirk, mother of Jim's children Michael Quirk, Tom Quirk and wife Kristine, Susan Foster and husband Gerald, Maureen George and husband Patrick.
Grandchildren: Nathan Corpus and wife Winter, Jingle Judge, Kaitlyn Judge, Alex Reed, Keenan Judge, Isabella James, Maeve George, Jack Quirk, Nolan George, Logan Judge, Nolan Judge and a brother-in-law Robert Johnson and wife Janine.
