James W. "Dude" Chase, 88, passed away Sunday, August 13, 2017, at his home. He was born October 6, 1928, to Thomas and Faye Chase. He was a member of Kemp's Chapel Baptist Church for over 50 years, serving as a deacon, and a Sunday School teacher. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He taught at Thrasher High School for 28 years. He was a member of the VFW, member and former Chief of Thrasher Fire Department, former Chief of the Prentiss County Rescue Squad, member of the fire fighters association, and a first responder. He was also a farmer and was known for his molasses. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and helping others.

A celebration of life service will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at McMillan Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Stephenson, Bro. David Heg, Bro. Ronnie Rippie and Bro. Ray Hall officiating. Burial will be in Kemp's Chapel Cemetery.

He is survived by one daughter, June (Barry) Brown; two sons, Ronnie (Karen) Chase and Donnie (Donna) Chase; two brothers, Thomas Chase and Ray Chase; five grandchildren, Amanda (Stephen) Foster, Ronnie (Denisa) Chase, Jr., Mitchell Chase, Denise Chase and Daniel (Angileah) Chase; seven great-grandchildren; a special lady, whom he loved like a daughter, Martha (Ruben) Fugitt; and a host of other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63years, Janette Brackeen Chase in 2015; two infant daughters; his parents; and one brother, Robert Chase.

Pallbearers are Jackie Rowsey, Danny Rowsey, Grady Nash, Michael Rinehart, Joe Lambert, Brad Fugitt, Richie Fugitt, and Larry "Shamrock" Davis.

Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Thrasher Volunteer Fire Department, the members of the Prentiss County Rescue Squad, and his former students.

Visitation will Tuesday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
