Janet Ann Weeks was born to Charles and Jeanne Weeks on August 27, 1951 in Amarillo Texas and left this earth for her heavenly home on November 24, 2017. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 27, 2017 in The Chapel of Memories at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 I-40 East. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Memorial Park Funeral Home.She was a 1969 graduate of Palo Duro High School. Following graduation, Janet worked as a beautician for many years, eventually owning her own shop. Although she loved hair styling, she felt a calling to do more and started volunteering at Amarillo Crisis Pregnancy Center/CareNet. She fell in love with their work and mission. Janet led the "New Dawn Ministry" counseling women who had experienced an abortion and presented this program at numerous locations across the United States and as far away as Belarus, Russia. She touched, healed, and saved many lives with this ministry. Janet worked for many years as the Administrator of Volunteers at CareNet, a position she held until she was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor and could no longer work.Her faith in Jesus Christ was unmatched and those who knew her witnessed this faith in her words, deeds, and actions. A multitude of friends will miss her and her passing leaves a big hole in the lives of her family and all of those who had the fortune to know her. Janet is survived by her mother, Jeanne of Amarillo, brother Mark and wife Gayle of Canyon, sisters Sheri Jones and husband Sam of Amarillo, Patty of Sultan WA, numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents Joseph and Minnie Murray and Pearl Weeks, father Charles and brother Mike.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Janet's memory to CareNet at 6709 Woodward, Amarillo TX 79106.We would also like to thank the nurses and staff at Country Club Nursing home for the love and care they gave Janet during her extended stay at their facility.
