Janice Kay Adams (nee Smith) passed away on Friday, January 19th, 2018.

Janice was born February 18, 1945 in Orange, Texas, to Bob and Hazel Smith. She was the oldest of five children. Janice graduated with honors from West Orange High School, and went on to earn her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Education from Lamar University. She spent her career teaching math at all levels, most recently as a Professor of Mathematics at TCU.

Janice met Bill Adams in November of 1970 and they were married in January of 1971. Their whirlwind courtship turned in to a devoted and enduring marriage of 47 years. In 1979, she had her only child, Justin, to whom she was a selfless and loving mother.

Janice was as funny as she was intelligent, and possessed a sharp and witty sense of humor. Her laughter will be missed terribly. She took pride in always looking her best and making sure her family did as well.

Janice was a life-long tennis player and team captain. She played in various leagues around the metroplex. She enjoyed organizing and captaining her teams to ensure everyone played and had a good time. Her impeccable tennis wardrobe proved just how serious she was about the sport.

In addition to tennis, Janice enjoyed her weekly bridge club and had been attending the same aerobics class for over 25 year. Janice developed deep and long lasting friendships over her 71 years.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Bill, and her adored son, Justin, and family friend Amanda Bandt; her brothers Richard Smith and Gary Smith, and their families and; she was preceded in death by her Mother and Father as well as her brother Robert Smith. Janice will be forever remembered by her extended family and dear friends.
