Jean A. Pruvost,64, of Bartonville, Illinois, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, December 9, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on October 27, 1953 in Fairfield, Illinois. She was the daughter of Robert F. and Mona C. (Tait) Over. She was the loving wife for 39 years of Terry L. Pruvost, they were married on April 1, 1978 in Pekin, Illinois. He survives, along with one son, Travis (Dr. Jill) Pruvost of Washington, Illinois, two grandsons who were a very special gift in her life, Tait and Corbin Pruvost of Washington, Illinois.

Jean is also survived by her mother, Mona Over, one sister, Colleen (Buddy) Short, two brothers, George (Debbie) Over and Mark (Laura) Over. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Jean worked over 35 years in the family business at Pekin Shoe Repair. Jean was a very talented seamstress and was able to create and design many custom projects. She was a very personable person, never meeting a stranger and always up to a conversation. She loved her family, which was her most precious gift in her life. She could handle a motorcycle as well as anyone, and enjoyed many long trips over the years with her husband and friends.

The family would like to thank the Illinois Cancer Care Pekin Office, Dr. Patrick Gomez, Dr. Sarah Lindsey and the nurses and staff for their care and compassion. They also would like to thank Hospice Compassus, Donavan, Carolyn, Susan and her caregivers Angie and Morgan for their care and compassion during Jean’s illness.

She was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church of Bartonville and played bells with its bell choir for many years, and she was a member and past officer of the Bartonville Femmes Unir. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree at Eastern Illinois University and was a Kappa Omicron Phi Honor Society member.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, December 12,2017 at the Davison Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Rev. Carolyn Roper-Fowlkes will officiate. Visitation will be Monday from 4pm until 6pm at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in rural Bartonville. Memorials may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church.
