Jeanette Eileen Shipp, 84, died on January 21, 2017 due to her long struggle with Alzheimer's disease in Front Royal, Virginia at Shenandoah Senior Living.
She was a loving wife to her husband, Wilbur (Bill) Shipp, of 54 years, who predeceased her ten years ago. Jeanette's five children have survived her, William (Billy) Shipp and his wife, Colleen of Melba, Idaho, Mark Shipp and his wife, Teresa of Bakersfield, California, Matthew Shipp and his wife, Julie of Omaha, Nebraska, Marcia Wolcott and her husband, Mark of Manassas, Virginia, and Melanie Young and her husband, Rick of Nokesville, Virginia. Other survivors include 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Her brother, James Craft of Bakersfield, California, has also survived her.
She was born on December 22, 1932, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She graduated from Comstock High School in 1951. She then went to live in Washington, DC to work for the FBI in the fingerprinting department. She met her husband, Bill, at a dance. They were married on February 2, 1952. They moved to Michigan and then to Connecticut. In 1967, they moved to Manassas, Virginia and then to Nokesville in 2006. For her last five years, she lived at the Shenandoah Senior Living, formerly Loving Arms Assisted Living.
Her favorite interest was sewing. She enjoyed making clothes, quilts and baby items for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed making crafts with her grandchildren. She was a wonderful homemaker, providing home sweet home for her family. She was very involved with writing to her legislators and political persons on issues that were most important to her, family values regarding life and marriage.
She was very involved with her church and long-time member of Dayspring Presbyterian Church. She had many responsibilities, including historian, treasurer, pregnancy center liaison, and hospitality. She enjoyed singing the hymns and music in general. Her most important passion in her life was her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a quiet and faithful servant of the Lord and she was also a prayer warrior.
The interment will be at Quantico National Cemetery at 12 noon on January 27, 2017. A memorial service will take place on February 24, 2017 at Spriggs Road Presbyterian Church at 13201 Spriggs Road, Manassas, VA 20112 at 11 a.m. Expressions of sympathy and cards may be sent to Marcia Wolcott, 7744 Beckham Court, Manassas, VA 20111.
