Jeanette Lelja, 94, of Fort Wayne, IN passed away on May 18, 2017. She was born in Hicksville, OH on May 13, 1923 to the late Albert and Celeste Chester. She graduated from Garrett High School in 1941. Jeanette married Wayne Lelja in 1947 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne. Throughout her life her worked at the Allen County Recorder's Office, Gas's Dress Shop, and Sears. She was a member of the Sigma Phi Gamma sorority. In her free time she enjoyed sewing, knitting, golfing, playing Bridge, and doing crossword puzzles.

Jeanette is survived by her daughters, Cheryl (Al) Guretse of Marlton, NJ and Susan Spangle of Angola, IN; 8 grandchildren, Brian, Shane, Shelley, Matt, Lauren, Andrew, Eric, and Kevin; 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne H. Lelja; son, Rodney Lelja; sister, Freda Bingham; one great-grandson, and son-in-law, Jim Spangle.

Visitation will be from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Klaehn, Fahl, and Melton Funeral Home (6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46819) with her Funeral Service to follow visitation at 12:00 pm. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park (6750 Covington Road Fort Wayne, IN 46804) following the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church (202 W. Rudisill Blvd, Fort Wayne, IN 46807) and Lutheran Life Villages ( 6701 S. Anthony Blvd, Fort Wayne, IN 46816).
