Services for Mr. Jeffery Ray "Jeff" Cordar will be held Sunday at 2pm at Stephens Funeral Home chapel in DeKalb. Rev. Charles Long will be officiating. Burial will be in Cedarlawn Cemetery in Scooba. Stephens Funeral Home of DeKalb is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Cordar , 47, of Scooba, passed away Wednesday at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian, MS. He is survived by his wife Deana Richardson Cordar; three sons: Tyler Reid, Matthew Cordar, and Ethan Cordar; his mother, Diane McGinty Cordar; his dad, Donald R. Cordar (Janice) of Birmingham; his maternal grandmother, Mary B. McGinty; sister: DeAnna Cordar Ryan (Chris); nieces: Amanda Gorsuch Traynham (Tommy); Taylor Nicole Anderson (David); Samantha R. Reese (Ty); and great nephews and niece.
Jeff was born and grew up in Hoover, Al attending Berry High School. He played football and was on the wrestling team. Jeff and his mother owned and managed a store in Geiger, AL. Later after closing the store, he went to work for Primeline Catfish in Scooba, MS as an electrician, and other mechanical jobs as well a truck driver. Jeff drove MS catfish to Chicago and Detroit every week for many years.
He fought cancer for 2 ½ years. The family would like to thank Dr. John Halbrook and the wonderful Anderson Hospital nurses on 4 east for the care they gave him throughout his fight.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 5p to 8p at Stephens Funeral Home of DeKalb.
