Dummerston – Jeffrey Lee Powers, 56, of Lost Mile Road, a lifelong resident of the area died unexpectedly at his home Sunday evening, July 29, 2012. Jeff was born in Brattleboro on February 7, 1956 the son of Lester and Winifred (LaValley) Powers, Sr. He was raised and educated in Brattleboro. He was currently employed as a logger for Calvin Powling, Jr. Logging of Newfane. Previously he worked for over 20 years for the Richard Hamilton family who owned and operated the Skyline Restaurant on Route 9. Jeff enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors. He was known for his generous spirit of giving, always willing to help anyone in need. He will also be remembered for his strong work ethic and devotion to his family. Jeff is survived by his fiancée Vicki Freckleton of Dummerston, his father of Marlboro; three brothers, Lester W. Powers, Jr. of Pinellas Park, Fla., James O. Powers of Tucson, Ariz. and Timothy Powers of Newfane; one aunt and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother who died in July of 1966. Graveside Committal Services will be held Friday, August 3rd at 1:00 P.M. in Clark Warren Cemetery on Auger Hole Road in Marlboro. Family and friends are invited to call at the Atamaniuk Funeral Home this evening, (Thursday) from 7 – 9 P.M. In accordance with Jeff's final wishes, it is requested that those attending the services please dress in comfortable, leisure attire; no suits and ties please. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to Windham County Humane Society, P.O. Box 397, Brattleboro, VT 05302.
